Making Twisted Cord
To make the twisted cord on the sewing machine, thread the stranded cotton through the holes of an empty bobbin. Place the bobbin on the bobbin winder on top of the machine. Engage the bobbin winding mechanism, hold the ends of the cord firmly above the machine and run the machine at a medium speed allowing the machine to twist the cord.
When the cord begins to twist back on itself, stop the machine. Keep tension onthe cord and fold it in half. Take the cord from the bobbin. Hold the cut ends together and release the folded end allowing the cord to twist together freely. Firmly knot the ends to prevent unravelling and trim the ends to form a tiny tassel. If you machine does not have a top winding bobbin, make the twisted cord by hand. To do so, tie both ends of stranded cotton together to form a circle. Slip one end of the circle over an empty spool pin on your machine and slip a pencil into the other end to twist the cord. When well twisted, fold the strands in half and knot.
