Application Monogramming bath towels and hand towels
Though bath towels and hand towels are commonly sold as individual units, wash cloths are almost always part of a three-piece towel set.. Here is a simple recipe for producing beautiful monograms with your embroidery software (Wilcom 2006, Wilcom deco Studio. Tajima DG/ML by Pulse Software system) and you embroidery machine.
Embroidery Monogram Size Typically 1.5 in height. The most common application is a 3-letter monogram with the center letter being 1.5 in height and the two outer letters being 50% of the height of the center letter. The center embroidery letter is the persons last initial, with the outer letters being their first and middle initials. Another variation is for a married couple, where the center letter is the last initial, the left letter is the wifes first initial and the right letter is the husbandis first initial. Occasionally, you will get a request for a single-letter embroidery monogram, which should be 1.5 in height. The most commonly used machine embroidery fonts are scripts.
Stitch Property Settings Towels are composed of a loopy fabric which has a tendency to push upward and through the machine embroidery stitching. Thus, its necessary to use a high level of stitch density. In addition, a solid underlay will add dimension to the machine embroidery monograms and help keep the fabric under control. Here are some suggested settings:
Density 75 spi Pull Comp 110%
Underlay Perpendicular and zig-zag Backing
Tear-away is preferred since the back of the towel will be visible. Towels are relatively stable, so backing is not that critical.
Topping Definitely use a water-soluble topping that is hooped with the towel. Needle 75/11ball-point or sharp-point. Placement - Angled in bottom right corner.
An alternative placement bottom center, 2" above hem or 1.5" above border.
