Adhesive spray
Adhesive spray tips and helpSpray adhesives come in several forms and offer an effective way of applying a bonding agent to a variety of surfaces. Formulas made especially for fabrics offer great advantages for embroidery - many machine embroiderers consider this unusual sewing notion to be the most miraculous thing since sliced bread! this wonderful product can be used in several ways by the home embroiderer: - Securely position garments or items that cannot be hooped, including caps, purses, bags, and items that are smaller than the smallest hoop. Hoop a piece of cut-away backing and spray it with temporary adhesive. Place the item to be embroidered in the hoop and adhere it to the cut-away; it will stay in place during the stitching process.
-When hooping layers of fabric and stabilizer; use the spray adhesive to temporarily bond the layers together - no shifting! - if using a paper or cardboard pattern when stitching an applique design, use spray adhesive to hold the pattern securely on the fabric during the cutting and positioning of the applique. Spray the adhesive on the backof the pattern and place it on the right side of the fabric. Once the fabric is cut , leave the pattern in place for added stability while positioning the cut fabric within the stitching lines of the applique. Spray the wrong side of the fabric, place it inside the stitching line, and gently pull the pattern from the fabric. The applique fabric will stay in place without stretching out of shape. - Most spray adhesives on the market today were designed for simple craft projects, not for use with expensive sewing machines. There are, however, some spray adhesives that are used succesfully in the embroidery and sewing industry, which do not cause damage to sewing and embroidery machines. Make sure the spray adhesive you select is temporary (it should dissipate within 24-48 hours) and designed for use with sewing machines and fabrics. If the spray is not temporary, sticky particles of fabric may become lodged in the hook assembly and cause problems such as thread breakage, uneven stitches, or looping. If odor is a problem, a spray adhesive is available that has no odor.
